Attika’s eastern plain, known as Mesogaia, has for generations been a principal wine source for Athenians. Spata is a town of Mesogaia most famous for its wine producing potential.
Domaine Fragou is one of the oldest buildings in Spata with a history of 230 years and more.
Fifteen years ago Asimina Fragou decided to renovate the ancient winery. Today the visitor to this place is captured by the atmosphere of old times. The recently restored old cellar, being a remarkable combination of utility and aesthetics, contributes greatly to this superb sensation.

At Domaine Fragou a great number of cultural events and meetings can be hold. The main part though at Fragou’s winery is played by the wine that is produced here.
Wine tastings and presentations are arranged throughout the year and a modern fermentation chamber receives the first fortnight of September the predominant grape variety of the area, Savatiano
.

Mesogaia is found in a rather dry area of Central Greece. However the sea, that virtually embraces this part of Attika - Mesogaia means land in the middle, sea all around - greatly moderates the climate, creating conditions beneficial to the cultivation of vine.
